Accounting journals
This screen lists the company’s accounting journals (Sales, Purchases, Bank, Miscellaneous Transactions, A/P, etc.) along with, for each one, its code, description, type and the number of entries recorded.
What it is for
In accounting, each entry belongs to a journal that indicates its nature: sales go into the sales journal, purchases into the purchases journal, bank transactions into the bank journal, and anything that does not fall into these categories (adjustments, provisions, etc.) into the miscellaneous transactions journal. This screen provides an overview of these journals and their activity (number of entries), which helps to check that nothing has been entered in the wrong place and serves as a starting point for centralisation (aggregating totals by journal, available in the ‘Auxiliaries & Centralisation’ screen).
