Chart of accounts
The chart of accounts lists all the company’s accounts (number, description, class, type) and enables them to be managed: creation, modification, activation/deactivation, deletion. An account that has already been used in entries cannot be deleted, only deactivated.
What it is for
Each accounting entry refers to an account in the chart of accounts: without an up-to-date chart of accounts, it is impossible to enter data correctly. This screen serves as the reference for the accounts available for all accounting purposes (manual entry, invoices, fixed assets, provisions, etc.). For each account, you can see its accounting type (Asset, Liability, Expense, Income, Financial, Mixed, Cash, Third Party), whether it is ‘letterable’ (suitable for invoice/payment reconciliation), any VAT code it may have, and whether it is active. You can create a new account, amend a description, deactivate an account that is no longer required without losing its history, or delete it if it has never been used. This feature complements the bulk import of the chart of accounts (used during set-up).
