Trial balance, general ledger and financial statements

This group of screens provides the standard accounting overview: the Trial Balance (debit/credit/balance of each account over a period), the General Ledger (line-by-line history of a specific account), the Chart of Accounts (list and management of accounts), and the Financial Statements (profit and loss account, simplified balance sheet, ageing balance sheet, VAT, Management Information System) with a comparison to the previous financial year.

What it is for

Once the entries have been recorded, it must be possible to review them from various perspectives. The Balance Sheet shows, for a given period, the debits, credits and balance of each account: this is the classic overview of the accounts. By clicking on an account, you open its General Ledger: every entry that has affected it, in order, with the balance recalculated line by line — useful for understanding where a balance comes from. The Chart of Accounts lists all available accounts (number, description, class, type) and allows you to create, edit, enable/disable or delete them (an account already used in entries cannot be deleted, only disabled). Finally, the Financial Statements provide a summary overview across four to five tabs: the profit and loss account (income, expenses, profit), the simplified balance sheet (assets, liabilities), the ageing schedule for third-party accounts (not yet due, 0–30 days, 31–60 days…), input and output VAT, and interim management balances (SIG), with the option to compare these figures with the previous financial year (N-1).
