EatXell — Kitchen display system (KDS) and order slips

The kitchen screen displays the orders sent from the dining area, station by station: order of arrival, a colour-coded timer, a ‘ready’ button per line or per order, and a reminder if a dish has been marked as ready too early. It opens in full-screen mode on a wall-mounted tablet. If the station has a printer, a paper order slip is printed at the same time.

What it is for

The kitchen needs to know what to prepare, in what order, and how long each dish has been waiting. The kitchen screen replaces the paper order book: every order from the dining room appears immediately; the timer turns orange and then red when the configured preparation time has elapsed; and a dish marked as ready disappears from the queue. Read-only access is sufficient: the kitchen staff do not need sales authorisation to mark a dish as ready.
