Consolidation of journals and subsidiary ledgers
This read-only screen comprises three views: a summary by journal (total debits/credits and number of entries over a period), the customers’ or suppliers’ subsidiary ledger (balance per party with carry-forward and transactions), and the subsidiary ledger for a specific party (detailed account statement, exportable to PDF).
What it is for
Beyond general accounting, it is sometimes necessary to focus on the journals or on third parties. Centralisation adds up, journal by journal, the debits and credits as well as the number of vouchers over a period: a quick way of checking that each journal is balanced (a reported debit-credit discrepancy is never normal). The subsidiary ledger (customers or suppliers) shows the balance for each counterparty in a collective account (for example, all customers under account 411), detailing the carry-forward and transactions for the period. The Subsidiary Ledger goes a step further: for a specific third party, it displays a complete account statement, with a cumulative balance and details of the account reconciliation, which can be exported as a PDF — the very document you can send to that third party to justify a balance. These three views are read-only: they are intended for monitoring and communication purposes, not for data entry.
