SEPA direct debits from customers

This screen processes your customers’ payments via SEPA direct debit: management of signed mandates (RUM, FRST/RCUR sequence), selection of outstanding customer receivables with active mandates, creation of a direct debit campaign, downloading of the ‘pain.008’ bank file, followed by automatic posting of receipts and account reconciliation.

What it is for

For customers who pay by direct debit rather than by bank transfer or cheque, you first need a signed SEPA direct debit mandate (authorisation from the customer, identified by a unique mandate reference, the RUM), followed by a SEPA Creditor Identifier (ICS) specific to your company, issued by your bank via the Banque de France. Once these prerequisites are in place, the screen lists the outstanding receivables from customers with an active mandate; you select them, create a direct debit campaign with a description and a direct debit date, and the bank file ‘pain.008’ is generated for submission to your bank. The first direct debit under a mandate is of type FRST; subsequent ones are RCUR — this distinction is technical and is handled by the screen. Once the direct debit has been executed, the system posts the entry (debit bank / credit customer) and automatically links the payment to the relevant invoice.
